GABF 2012, October 12, Friday. Black. Rich port and red wine some some red meat. Thick and heavy, lots of malt and it is roasted but not overly so. Excellent. The best new imperial stout I can recall in years.

Sampled at GABF. Pours an oily, opaque black with some beige head. Nice, licorice nose, toasted bread, molasses, burnt caramel. Sweet, malty flavor, molasses, licorice, toast. Full, sweet, sticky finish. Not as nuanced as I’d like.

Sample at GABF 10/13/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. The beer pours a very dark brown color with a medium tan head and patchy lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Full-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, espresso and resiny hops. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Solid all around.
