24/8/2023. Cask at the 31st East Anglian Beer & Cider Festival. Pours clear dark ruby brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is boozy, harsh, chocolate, dried fruit, toffee, wood, musty edge. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Quite full bodied, syrupy mouthfeel, low carbonation. Meaty Bovril finish. First time I'd ever seen this one on cask, it was certainly more interesting than the normal GK brew.

Cask at GBBF 2018. Low key fruit vinegar aroma. Cloudy chestnut with beige ring of a head. Sweet with a hefty sour bitter kick plus canned fruit. Thin. Slick. Flat carbonation. Long finish. Decent enough. Especially for one of my least favourite breweries.

chestnut color with off white head. Wood, molasses, dark cherries, treacles, burnt raisins and brown sugar in the nose. The body is very full, moderately sweet, and for 12% the alcohol is really well hidden. Malty body, smooth with milk chocolate and molasses and dark cherries showing up. Lingering burnt raisins, molasses and brown sugar in te finish. Excellent.

Cask, kindly shared by yespr, GBBF 2013. Cloudy red-orange coloured body. Sweet apricot and malts on the nose. Mid-sweet, marmalade taste, lots of dried fruits mixed with earthy malts and warming alcohol. Heavy, likable, stuff (London Olympia 14.08.2013).

Cask at GBBF ’13, 15/08/13. Hazed mahogony brown with a light tan head which thins to a ring around the perimiter of the vessel. Nose is rich in dark fruits, raisens, prunes, earthy, brown sugars. Taste comprises a dark fruit medley, Christmas cake, leather, earth, wood, booze but not a double digit kick, muscavado sugar. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the finish. Decent drop - the 12% is very well integrated.
