Bottle. A black one, topped by a small, dense, light tan head. The aroma has dark chocolate, some coffee and a little hint of licorice. Not much alcohol detected, impressive considering the ABV. Dark sugars too. The flavor has a faint alcohol touch, with dark chocolate, coffee and licorice, and a touch of toffee. Full body, pleasant carbonation and with the alcohol much more present than in the aroma. Lasting finish. A really pleasant one, although a tad too warming on the palate. 140315

Fare thee well Josh tasting at Bruce’s. Thanks to Colin. Almost opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Mild carbonation. Smooth dark malts with sweet tangy coffee and chocolate. Touch of cherry. Smooth dry finish. Pretty tasty and hides the big abv well.

Bottle split at Josh’s Farewell Fling, acquired from 4:20, 20/02/14. Light black with a faded tan covering. Nose is light roast, soy sauce, chocolate, dark toffee, spice, liqourice. Taste comprises chocolate, dark malts, brown sugars, liqourice, molasses. Medium + in bodiment, fine carbonation, light warming alcohol in the close. Ok impy but not a huge amount of depth for 13%, was this really 13% ABV? It just seemed a little thin throughout, I have my doubts!

Pitch black pour. Only the tiniest bit of carbonation. Sweet licorice aroma. Sickly sweet cough syrupy taste with roasted tinge. Sweet finish with bit of booziness but doesn't seem like 14%.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours near black with a small tan rim. The nose is roasted malt, dark chocolate gateaux, booze, toffee, tiramisu and candy. The taste is sweet, boozy, oily, coffee cake, varnish, booze, cherry, chocolate and earth. Mediumish body and low carbonation. Hides booze well, but no real depth. Alright, but a bit sweet.

Bottle shared in London to send off Josh. Thanks to Colin for yet another Rev Cat. Pours clear, dark brown with a frothy light beige head. Dark malts on the nose, dark fruits, light grapes, berries, nips of chocolate. Medium sweet flavor, some sugary chocolate, dark berries, dark bread, mellow earthy bitterness, medium bodied with fine carbonation. Surprisingly little alcohol warmth to finish if this beer really is 13%. Some further sugary chocolate to finish, ripe and dark fruits. Quite tasty if a bit basic.

Bottle 330ml (WPBF)
Opaque black color, small white head. Sweet medicinal, apple fruity aroma. Full-bodied. Very sweet, apple, vanilla, roasted malts. A bit pervert perhaps, needs ageing.

33 cl bottle @ wPBF’14, BBE 12/2014
Aroma is sweetish with soy sauce and licorice. Flavour is rather sweet with salty licorice, coffee and sugary tones. Too sweet and sticky but not bad anyway.
