Bottle. Pours clear mahogany, small tan head, dissipates fairly quickly, some lacing. Aroma is roasty, light smoke, coffee. Flavor is light sweet, rich roast, light smoke and light bitter. Medium body with some acidity.

(Bottle) Black with ruby hints and good off-white head. Subtle, slightly smokey aroma. Smooth with excellent carbonation both silky and bright. Great taste. A nice balance of rich dark flavours which are not laid on too heavily making it easy to drink whilst tasty. There’s some dark treacle, a little smokiness and some gentle bitterness in finish. Very pleasant. Easy drinking and interesting.

Bottle from Candia Convenience Store. Aroma is roasted malts, hints of chocolate--is this a porter? Appearance is dark, dark, brown--almost black, with tiny creamy white head with almost no retention. Taste is rich, medium malty sweetness with very mildly bitter end. Palate is medium bodied with lively carbonation over the full tongue with short finish. Overall, a black lager that brushes up against the Porter category. Not complex but above average in all categories. Good beer.

12 oz can purchased as part of a mix a six at K-7 Liquors in Shawnee, Kansas. Best Before 07/09/15 printed on the bottom of the can. The pour is black brown with a bit of golden on the pour with a well formed ½ inch light tan head. The aroma is softly sweet bread like malt, along with a whisper of roast. Fresh nose. The taste is dry roast cracker malt, soft sweet caramel bread, then moves to a dry mineral grassy finish. Nice transition of flavors. The palate is light bodied with soft carbonation and the clean dry finish. Easy drinking, tasty beer.

Very dark brown brew with a 2 finger head of off white foam sitting atop.
Bitter roasted malt in the smell with string hints of smoke. The bitter could be some hop character as well, I suppose.
Roasted malt, bitter hops, definite flavours of smoke that compliment. There’s some real harmony going on with this black lager.
It has a creamy mouthfeel.

Pleasing aroma, chocolate syrup and some coffee notes. Very dark but not quite opaque in the glass, tinting red/purple in the light. Decent sized foamy head. Flavor somewhat empty, dry cocoa, mild coffee, dry finish - all somewhat typical of schwarzbier but the finish just runs a tad thin. I feel like there’s an illusion of smokiness in here, possibly due to a touch of roasted malt.

12 oz can poured. Pours a dark chocolate brown color with a nice roasted malt aroma with a touch of hops. Really enjoyed this one. Super smooth and easy drinking with a ton of flavor. Touch of smoke. Solid, tasty beer.
