WHO GIVES A WIT?
We do and it’s not rude. Based on a traditional Belgian wit (white) beer, we’ve added the bergamot and lemon zest of Earl Grey tea for a well turned out beer that politely packs a punch.

(Bottle) Hazy, pale yellow colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with bread, citrus, grass, banana, clove and subtle hints of Earl Grey tea. Fruity, spicy taste with notes of white bread, citrus, lemon peel, clove and flowers. Rather light body, quite dry. Fresh and tasty witbier. Quite nice.

On keg at the Craft Beer Rising event at Drygate brewery. This one didn’t really give me the wit aromas of orange peel or coriander and neither did it give me the expected Earl Grey thing. However, it did deliver all of this on the taste. Quite pungent though.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Pours cloudy yellow, thin bubbly white head. Aromas of lemon and spice, not finding the bergamot, but nice aroma nevertheless. Taste is light sweet, more lemon and pepper. Creamy texture, long finish. Good.

Bottle from Cornelius. Hazy pale golden body with a thin white head that slowly fades. Average carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of lemonade, coriander and botanical notes. Flavour of lemon, green tea and flower petals. Thin body with a watery texture. Lively fizz. Sharp, refreshing and dry. An interesting beer.

(Keg at Woolshed, 20140426) The beer poured yellow and quite cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had coriander, grass and fruitiness. Palate was light bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were coriander, fruitiness, sweetness, grass and low bitterness. Aftertaste had citricness, coriander and low bitterness. A weak watery Witbier.
