As the 500-year-old Mühlviertel tradition goes, on special occasions brewery workers would fill large buckets (Kübel) with beer directly from the fermentation tanks. They would then pass around this extremely fresh, unfiltered beer and drink from the Kübel in turn. Because none of the proteins, yeast, or hop essences had been filtered out, this beer was fuller and more aromatic than any other they served. For this exact reason, our former head brewer, Franz Krammer, took it upon himself to bring this age-old tradition back to life.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein leicht trübes goldgelbes Bier mit ordentlicher Schaumkrone. Geruch malzig, getreidig, leicht würzig. Geschmack malzig würzig, getreidig, leichte Bitterkeit.

500ml bottle. Minimally cloudy golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Minimally fruity and yeasty aroma, pale malty basis, a touch of grassy hop. Taste is minimally fruity, slightly bitter hoppy, some husk. Not bad.

at papsoe tasting. cloudy yellow ,smooth small white head. aroma is malts, sweetish flourish note like if there was wheat matls in it, very faint bitter exotic fruity like hoppiness. flavor is quite bitter and flowery, almost slighly herbal hoppy. malts are also towards the bitter side. quite almost herbal and quite bitter beer, put in fact quite tasty.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an almost clear golden with a lacing white head. Clean, malty nose with some flowery hops. Medium body, a dry, clean maltiness, a little sulphur and a fairly bitter finish. Very good and clean. 210113

Bottle 330ml.Clear medium yellow colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, fruity, moderate hoppy, flowers, light grass - citrus. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20121019]
