Brauerei Hofstetten-Krammer (Hofstettner) Kübelbier
As the 500-year-old Mühlviertel tradition goes, on special occasions brewery workers would fill large buckets (Kübel) with beer directly from the fermentation tanks. They would then pass around this extremely fresh, unfiltered beer and drink from the Kübel in turn. Because none of the proteins, yeast, or hop essences had been filtered out, this beer was fuller and more aromatic than any other they served. For this exact reason, our former head brewer, Franz Krammer, took it upon himself to bring this age-old tradition back to life.

16.9 oz. bottle purchased @ Bier Cellar, Portland, ME for $4.39. Foamy white head laced the lager glass real well. Nose is sweet grain and a light Euro hops aroma. Bread yeast leads off the flavors with yeast and a light grassy hop in the finish. Lots of pale malt balanced nice with a solid lingering bitterness. Medium body with a texture that is mostly drying. It’s ok.

Bottled(500ml). -Slight hazy yellow coloured, medium sized white head, mild fruity grassy nose. Mild lemony, grassy and mild hoppy with few fruity hints. A bit too watery, average brew.
