Kottbusser is a very old style of German beer brewed with molasses, honey, oats, and wheat. It was lost to history after the enactment of German purity laws of 1516 (Reinheistgebot) which made the brewing of this beer illegal. Our take on this is; light straw colored with aromas of lemon peel, black pepper, and grainy. Flavors of black pepper spice, light lemon citrus finishes dry with a light body.

5 oz. tap pour as part of a flight at the brewery. Appearance is pale, lightly hazy, greenish-yellow with no sparkle, cap of off-white foamy head with good retention and tons of lacing. Aroma is subtle European malts, tart fruit and Euro hops. Taste is European malt (somewhat Pilsner like) and Euro hops, hint of tart fruit. Mouthfeel is medium side light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste with dry lingering bitterness. Overall, a cross between Pilsner, Vienna lager, Euro IPA and Kolsch. Ok
