Jai Alai, a game native to the Basque region of Spain, is played on a court called a fronton. Jai Alai players attempt to catch a ball using a curved mitt whilst the ball travels at speeds up to 188 mph! Proving they have a sense of humor the Spanish dubbed this game, with its ball traveling at race car speeds, “the merry game.” Tampa was once home to a bustling Jai Alai fronton but sadly all that remains of Jai Alai in the Tampa Bay area is this India Pale Ale that we brew in tribute to the merry game. The India Pale Ale style of beer has its roots in the ales sent from England to thirsty British troops in India during the 18th century. Pair Jai Alai India Pale Ale with beef empanadas, deviled crabs and other spicy dishes.

355ml can. hazy orange amber with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of orange, grapefruit, pine, malts. Taste is citrusy, orange, grapefruit, piney, caramel, sweet malt, but quite a bitter finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. A classic.

Can 355ml (Beer Hunters). Dark amber-orange colour, medium-sized white head. Crystal malts, riped tropical fruits in the nose. Meh. Medium-bodied. Tropical fruits, resin, sweetness, alcohol in the flavour. Somewhat dissapointing after waiting 20k beers before having this one.

Thick off white head stayed on a hazy marmalade coloured still body. Juicy aroma of Tropical fruits, pine & citrus. Medium to full bodied, thick & creamy on the palate with a clean crisp finish. Dank pine tastes with a massive hop kick - onion, overripe fruit underripe fruit, a malty backbone & a bitter citrus finish.

Can from Craftissimo at home. Copper amber pour with sticky fine white head. Aroma is sticky dank orange zest and honey. Taste is sharp bitter bite with pine resin and citrus pith tingle with honey malt. Slightly rich palate. Big rich orange resin IPA. Would get again but probably not for HK$50.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from One Stop Market. Appearance is clear, light amber, with nice sparkle, 1.5-finger width foamy white head with decent retention and fair soapy lacing. Aroma is citrus fruit, melon. Taste is moderate citrus and tropical fruit balanced with strong bready and light caramel malts. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with slick texture, average-to-lively carbonation with finish that's mostly sweet as taste balanced with light earthy bitterness. Overall, not the strongest of flavors/aromas but a nice balance of malts and hops.
