Jai Alai, a game native to the Basque region of Spain, is played on a court called a fronton. Jai Alai players attempt to catch a ball using a curved mitt whilst the ball travels at speeds up to 188 mph! Proving they have a sense of humor the Spanish dubbed this game, with its ball traveling at race car speeds, “the merry game.” Tampa was once home to a bustling Jai Alai fronton but sadly all that remains of Jai Alai in the Tampa Bay area is this India Pale Ale that we brew in tribute to the merry game. The India Pale Ale style of beer has its roots in the ales sent from England to thirsty British troops in India during the 18th century. Pair Jai Alai India Pale Ale with beef empanadas, deviled crabs and other spicy dishes.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from One Stop Market. Appearance is clear, light amber, with nice sparkle, 1.5-finger width foamy white head with decent retention and fair soapy lacing. Aroma is citrus fruit, melon. Taste is moderate citrus and tropical fruit balanced with strong bready and light caramel malts. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with slick texture, average-to-lively carbonation with finish that's mostly sweet as taste balanced with light earthy bitterness. Overall, not the strongest of flavors/aromas but a nice balance of malts and hops.

12 oz can, canned March 30, 2018. Pours golden, clear, with a white head. Aromas of citrus hops, some pine, and some pale malts. Flavor has sticky citrus and pine, again with a bit of pale malt. Pretty solid.

Orange, dunkelgelbe Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Fruchtiger, hopfiger, malziger Geruch. Geschmacklich hopfig, fruchtig mit Mango, Orangen, Grapefruit und Citrus, malzig, Leichte Süße mit mittlerer Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit aktiver Kohlensäure. Ausbalanciert, intensiv und trotzdem süffig.

Fat på Barski, Helsingborg. Dags att dricka denna klassiker, och vilket bättre tillfälle än färsk upplaga på fat? Mörkorange, nästan åt kopparröd i färgen med vit krona. Klassisk amerikansk IPA: lätt kakig och dank med viss sötma och en bra torr beska som ligger kvar i munnen ett tag. Toner av kåda, tall, citrus och apelsin. Ingen superkaxig västkust-IPA. Gott!

12 oz. can bought at Binny's. A hoppy smell under the tab, emphasizing tropical fruits over pine or bitterness. Some apricot slips in there as well. In the narrow glass I used, it kicked up a big head, dwindling slowly to clumps of IPA foam over a finely filtered amber body. Taste is big and fruity from its hop load. After a few more tastes, hop bitterness does settle in. Despite its higher alcohol, the total package remains malty, with little burn to it. In a beer universe awash with hop bombs, this manages to stand out with some character of its own.

Read that Cigar City has recently started selling in Texas. Thanks BEK. So this is my first of what I hope is many from the brewery. Purchased as a six-pack in Odessa, TX yesterday, I cannot wait. I pop the tab on the 12 oz can and pour into my tasting glass, it shows up a slightly hazy dark gold accompanied by a heroic off-white top, good lacing indeed. The smell, very tropical, good intro to me. I take a full drink. A collision of tastes, nicely hoppy, mango, pineapple, a little grassy. Really decent. All this and 7.5% abv which scores points with me.

12 Fl oz can into glass. Hazy golden amber beer with big frothy head. Medium carbonation. Nose is slightly alcoholic with hints of malt and stonefruit. Good body, zingy in the mouth. Finish is earthy, fruity with late touches of sweet alcohol. Nice IPA, easy drinking too!
