For this beer, we used lots of roasted and chocolate malts to give a great depth of flavor. We used Dutch cocoa powder in the mash and in the boil. We then added Ecuadorian cocoa nibs to secondary.

Taster pour on tap at CT Brew Fest. It's an opaque black with dark brown at the bottom of the glass with 3-finger light brown head with excellent retention and nice rings of lacing. Aroma is strong roasted earthy malt, chocolate and cocoa. Taste is strong chocolate, fudge, late earthy malt. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, average carbonation and finish as taste with some lingering roasted bitterness. Overall, straightforward chocolate and more chocolate. Good.
