Cask at the Sussex Arms, 28/12/13. Lightly hazed golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is spice forward, cinammon, root ginger, dark fruits, bready fruit loaf notes. Taste comprises dark fruits, bready malt, nutmeg, 5 spice, cinabonn roll. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying conclusion laden with spices. Decent Xmas affair, an effort has been made to load some different levels of spice flavour into this beer unlike other offerings who just tweak up a standard bitter add a dollop more sugar an a pinch of spice. Well done Ilkley!

Cask at the Sussex arms. Thanks Colin. Golden light amber pour with a fleeting white head. Aroma is fennel and liquorice. Flavour is nutty malt and fennel liquorice. Quite sweet medium body.

Bottle at home on 2nd January 2013. Pours clear gold with thin whitish head and temporary decending lace. Fruity, somewhat earthy aroma with a few spices present. Delicious blend of tangy hoppiness and biscuit malts in-mouth, along with some rich berry fruits. Subtle savoury background note. Rich hoppy and fruity finish - rum and raisin flavours also present toward end. Excellent festive bottle. I enjoyed every sip.

Cask (gravity) @ 28th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2011, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, EnglandNotet ABV as 4.7%. Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, spicy, cinnamon, light christmas spices. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, spicy, caramel sweet, sweet christmas spices. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20111206]

Cask at Ruislip beer festival 2012. An amber coloured pour with a small white head on top. Malty, caramel aroma. Tastes malty, caramel, fruity, slight sweetness.

Cask at Pig’s Ear Beer Festival, London. Hazy brownish amber. Aroma of pear and caramel. Sweet with medium body and soft mouthfeel. Some caramel, plenty of pears and candyish spices. Mid bitter finish.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2011, London. Pours clear gold with a fine, white head. Rich gingerbread aroma. Nice. Medium sweet flavor, lots of holiday spices, ginger, cinnamon. Some light bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet finish, more ginger and other spices, slight herbal hops. Very solid holiday ale.

Cask@Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2011. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some wood, herbs, mild yeasty notes as well as some slight zesty and mild spicyness. Flavour is caramel malts, some bitter fruity and floral notes along with wood and resin as well as some slight spicyness as well. Mild fruity/floral bitterness in the finish.
