Bottle from Great Grog. Dark brown body with a thin tan head. Light lacing. Aroma of espresso, smoky bacon, earthy notes and brown sugar. Flavour of lightly smoked malt, chocolate and blackcurrants. Tangy finish. Medium body with a smooth texture. Lively carbonation. A fruity Porter with subtle smoky hints.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol 12/10/2012. Light, smoked malt and berry fruits aroma, with a touch of caramel. Flavour had more fruit, some chocolate and roasted malts, with a dryish, peaty finish. Good.

Bottle at home ... deep brown/red ... thin tan head ... sweet toffee malt nose ... light smoke ... hint of fishyness ... soft sweet roast ... dark toffee malts ... chewy malts ... again a light fishyness ... maybe a little more meaty smoke than fishy smoke ... decent ... but as its a smoked beer it never going to float my boat... and what an interesting choice of launch beer. keg at red squirelll ... brown ... thin tan head ... soft meaty smoked roast nose... light roast ... smooth chocolate roast ... light bitterness ... bit too much smoke for me ... stick at 3.3 Bottle at home ... of the Reserve ... deep browwn ... thin tan lacing ...soft meaty malt ... liught whisky nose ...deep malts ... lightest soya ... big meaaty roast ... light toffee ... light licorice ... mellow whisky ... nice and soft .... 4.0

Keg @ Holyrood 9A 140712
Dark brown, lots of ruby light through
Aroma - soft dark malts, not much smoke on the nose
Taste - dark caramel malts, soft smoke, soft chocolate, the smoke is subtle here
Palate - medium carb, wasn’t too fizzy, light to medium body. FInish as main flavour
Overall - Keg doesn’t suit this beer. I’d like to re-rate bottled or cask
