500ml bottle from Great Grog. Pours hazy brown, thin tan head. Light smoke on the nose, but mostly chocolatey porter aromas. Taste is more of the same, chocolate then smoke at the back. Light fruity sweetness. Prickly carbonation. OK.

330ml bottle from Grumpy Goat, Reading. Deep chocolate brown colour with Thin tan head head. Light aroma of fruit. Only a very slight smoke flavour, with some caramel, and chocolate.

Bottle at home. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasted malt, chocolate, smoke, peat, meat and umami notes. The taste is smooth, roasty, toast, light smoke, some medicinal notes, peat, coffee and chocolate with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Interesting and pretty well executed. Nice.

Pigs Ear. The Round Church, Hackney. Cask. Clear deep red amber beer with a bubbly tan head. Light very dry palate with a little fine carbonation. Light touch of dark chocolate. Mild coffee. Tangy dry fruits. Dry finish. Tasty if over dry.

Bottled. Almost clear dark brown, small head. Fruit ynose with some wood and smoke. Mid dry with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Mid bitter finish with some peat.

bottle from Oddins London Bridge. Black beer lasting beige head. Malty aroma, but not particularly smokey. Eeek, like all the other Fallen beers I had this is still not a very good beer. Flavours are all over the place, there is some leather sofa flavour that is strange, the smokiness is limited and vague cheap smoked bacon. Itβs not a pleasant beer to drink and like the other Fallen beers, I didnβt want to finish it.

Bottle at home in London - snagged at Royal Mile Whiskies, London. Pours clear, red-brown with a moderate, creamy beige head. Nose offers up some quality smoked malts, hints of ripened berries, some dirt and burnt meat. Light to medium sweet flavor with mild char, good smoke, some smoked ham, berries, a bit of burnt caramel and brown sugar, low bitterness. Light bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Very light dryness to finish with fairly strong but very balanced smokey malts, burnt ham, toasted brown sugar and caramel, dried fruits, mellow earthy bitterness. Iβm pretty impressed by this one. Good depth for the ABV and very decent balance overall.

Bottle 330ml.[ Trade by cgarvieuk ]. Clear dark brown colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caraeml, dark roasted, meat, wood, smoke. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, camp fire smoke, meat, dark malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120915]

On tap @ the Guildford Arms. Pours opaque black with a decent crema head. The nose is lightly chocolatey with just a hint of smoke. The taste is more milk chocolate with again just a hint of smoke. The palate is medium bodied or perhaps a bit more, thereβs a good creamy texture though the finish could be a bit cleaner in my opinion. Overall, solid!
