Draught, beer flight glass at Norwich Tap House. Patchy, fawn-coloured head. Spotty lacing. Near black coloured body. Smoked malty aroma with hints of liquorice. Subdued smoked meat to the taste profile with some impacts of chocolate malts and liquorice. Prolonged ending. Quite well bodied. Nice smoked porter. (10.07.2017).

330ml can. Very dark mahogany colour with a thin beige head. Aroma: peat, smokey roasted malt. Taste: peaty, roasted malts, dark fruits, smoke, hint of coffee and chocolate, bitter finish. Medium body, average carbonation, smooth.

500ml bottle from Scottish Real Ale Shop, Kilmahog. Pours dark with ruby hints, off-white head. Aroma has welcoming smoked meat. Taste has good soft smoked flavours, light spice, chocolate hints, faint dark fruits, more smoke. Good smoked porter.

Medium beige head. Opaque black body. Peat smoke, earth, roasty aroma with chocolatey notes. Sweetish strawberry roasty taste with cow dung notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish strawberry and earth aftertaste with dusty toasted rice notes. Nice, but strange. Why so little smoke? Strawberry? Anyway, somehow it works. (0.5l bottle, from odd bins, Edinburgh.)

Bottle from Oddbins Beer Shop, Blackheath. Pours dark brown with a reddish tint. Chocolate, raisin and coffee roast aroma. Flavours of woodsmoke, coffee, ash and raisin flavour. Dry, smoky feel. Limited carbonation but quite a tasty little number.

500ml bottle from a Scottish Aldi during their beer festival: shared with a mate in Edinburgh on 24th Oct 2014, our last beer of a good crawl followed by some bottles at his gaff. Poured a deep, hazy brown, on top a thin tanned head. Mild smoky nose, with a dark chocolate and red fruit hint. Taste is the same, but in a different order of strength: chocolate then Peat smoke followed by the fruitiness. Medium bodied and nicely carbonated, a pleasant night cap.
