Can pour into tulip glass. Appearance is essentially opaque black (faintest dark mahogany with light source directly behind), faint sparkle at the edges of the glass, finger-width foamy light brown head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is dark fruit, cocoa, vanilla, roasted malt, lactose. Taste is Irish whiskey, cherry, milder chocolate and vanilla, late bitter roast, hint of wood. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste with lingering mild dry bitterness. Overall, really tasty with some nice complexity. Will be interesting to see how this ages as this was only 7 weeks old (born on 1/28/19). Harpoon should have their beer competition on a more regular basis.
