Sour & Bitter Festival CPH 2012. Black with a small tan head. Aroma dominated by cold coffee, to the degree where it resembles used ashtrays, along with some toffee and chocolate. Very sweet caramel and sugary flavour with lots of cold coffee.

Sample @ the Sour & Bitter event in Copenhagen. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a small brownish white head that leaves some trace on the glass when dissipating. Smell is sweet with coffee, roasted malts, wood, brown sugar and hints of lemon zest, soil and salty liquorice. Taste is sweet and bitter with coffee, toffee, liquorice fudge, vanilla, brown sugar, roasted malts and hints of lemon zest and bitter chocolate. Mouthfeel is sticky sweet, very tiny dry and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet with dark sweet bread, coffee and roasted malts.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours a pure black color with a small beige head. A huge nose of coffee and heavy rich fruit. The flavor is superb; viscous, rich brown sugar and coffee, massive, coffee, roast. Very big and tasty.

Poured up on tap at the Carlsbad Pizza Port and suggested by peteinSD, another great suggestion Pete! It pours dark mahogany with dark tan head. Man, the aroma is straight up malt sweetened dark roasted coffee goodness to a level only achieved by a few (such as ratebeer’s and CCB’s fishingnet’s homebrew!!!). The taste is just as dark roasted coffee as sensed in the nose with rich oily yummy dark roasted coffee goodness mixing with dark roasted malts. There is very little sense of this things big ABV. Wonderful big coffee stout.

Sampled from the tap at Three Floyds XV. Poured near black with a dark brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of coffee with backing dark grains and roasted malts. Flavor was full of coffee (espresso) some bitter dark grains and a good amount of roast. One note coffee but solid.
