Another beer I feel fortunate to obtain, this one from Smaakhuis. A De Molen quadrupel and barrel aged also, normally a good combination. 33 cl bottle now opened and going inside of a Chimay glass. Mahogany liquid with some amber around the edges and an almost non-existent head but I see a small ring of taupe bubbles and there is a fortunate, consistent carbonation. The nose is a swell start. Ripe dark fruit, some booziness, grain and hard candy. And the drink, well, it is delightful, very full and rich with flavor. Black raisins, figs, baked bread, dark chocolate, roasted malts and plenty effect from the rum barrels. I do not recall a recent quad this fine. Good friend Rene approved and I agree.

A very dark brown beer, no head. Aroma of strong dark caramelized malt, dried fruits. Taste of dried fruits, plums, caramel, smoke, boozy dark malt.

Bottle shared by Joen. Opaque dark brown colored beer, average sized beige head. Aroma is malts, roast, rum, barrel influence. Flavor is malts, again rum, soft roast, boozy, raisins, sweetness. Must admit, didn't think this was gonna be much, but it's quite awesome. Thick texture, oily, soft carbonation. Surprisingly good.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is big rum barrel with brown malts, caramel, raisins, dried fruit, marzipan, cane sugar. Flavour is pretty sweet with some booze in the finish. Medium to full body. Sweet and rich.
