Bottle. (brewed by Trio, Norway.) Oh, how I have waited to slip this beauty down my throat. Not! It is a pale, yellow beer, filtered, and topped by a white, sorry excuse for a head. The nose is weak, grain, hay and some really, vague notes of hops are present. There’s some lemon notes as well. It continues in the same way when tasting it. There’s not much flavor, but at least there’s some lemon and hops coming towards the end. Watery body. Why brew a beer pretending to be Indian, even stating "Product of India" on the neck label, in Norway? At least they could have had the decency to make it worth the malt and hops. I don’t blaim Trio, they probably did what they were told to do, it is a contract brew, but why order something like this? On the other hand, Trio was the obvious choice when chosing a Norwegian brewer to do a thin, not-much-tasting pale lager. (070324)

Bottle 0,33l. Extremely pale coloured: Golden yellow. A bit hazy with a couple of lumps in the bottle. A large creamy white head that stabilized. Aroma of metallic lemonade. A surprisingly unpleasant taste of plastic that unfortunately lasted for a while. Avoid! This beer must be a joke.

330ml bottle that claims to be "A product of India", but is obvious brewed in Norway. Picked up the blank bottle at Ølbutikken in Tromsdalen. Yellow-golden body. Creamy white head, quickly disappearing. Slightly citric smell. Some sweet lemon taste with a stong wet paper impression. A very light weight beer and not pleasant to drink (17.11.2006).

Rerate, 750 ml green "champagne" bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. The label has the address of "Chakra Brewery India", but the beer is "Bottled in E.C.". ABV is 4.7%. Pale golden colour, moderate head. Grassy and citrussy sweetish aroma. Moderate carbonation in the glass. The flavour has some fruity and citric notes, the bitterness is minimal and the beer is quite boring - but it is not undrinkable. Slightly better than the variety from Trio. Not worth the fancy bottle, though. Original rating: 330 ml clear bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar. This "Indian" beer is a gimmick brew of Trio Bryggeri (50% Mack owned), Skien, Norway. The beer is brewed with "the purest Norwegian water", but claims to be a "Product of India - Chakra Brewery". There is no evidence on the internet to suggest that the "Chakra Brewery" actually exists. And even if it did exist, it would hardly brew with "Norwegian water", would it? The beer is extremely pale yellow coloured, with a low head that disappears rapidly. The "skunky" / fruity / lemony whiff in the aroma is actually the best thing about this beer. Flavour is very bland and dull with just a hint of lemons, hardly any bitterness. Fizzy mouthfeel. Ice cold it may serve as a thirstquencher, or to wash down a hot curry, but for people looking for tasty beers, this is one to pass.
