Bottle, RBESG 2005, Grand Tasting. Strong aroma of Christmas spices, sweet malts and vegemite. Very SWEET flavour, molasses galore. Far too sweet in my book.

How: Bottle, made in 2004..
Where: From Halle, big thanks.
Appearance: Brown colour with a tan head.
Aroma: Sour caramel, some chocolate, a bit of alcohol.
Body: A little thin, quite lively carbonation. Surprised by the amount of carbonation after 13 years. The thin body is probably due to age.
Flavour: Caramel, malt, some alcohol, hints of fruit.

(Bottle, 0.33 - BBE 05/2006, courtesy of omhper, thanks Per, 20130406) The beer poured dark brown and quite clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had malts, cocoa powder, berries and mild sourness. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. The taste was very oxidised. Flavours were malts, sourness, malts, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sour, malty and bitter. As Per assumed when giving this bottle to me, the beer has oxidised so much that it had gone a bit sour. Still there was enough components left to imagine what the beer was like when it was younger.

Bottle. A clear, dark brown beer topped by a small, light beige head. Quite alcoholic on the nose, with dried fruits, caramel and something berry-like. The flavor has some sourness, along with caramel, dried fruits and some berries. Alcohol warmth too. Full-bodied and quite flat, with some oxidation going on all the way. A beer that didn’t impress, but it’s fine in many ways. 120817
