12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 5/9/2012. Pours fairly crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a nice 2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with moderate streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, raisin, apple, molasses, toffee, toast, brown bread, floral, brown sugar, light roasted malt, and earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of malt and fruity esters. Taste of caramel, raisin, apple, molasses, toffee, brown bread, toast, brown sugar, light floral, light roasted malt, and earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, light fruits, molasses, toffee, brown bread, toast, and light roast on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of malt and fruity ester flavors; with nice robustness and zero cloying sweetness present after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately slick and creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with almost zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent doppelbock. Very nice balance, robustness, and complexity of malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear nut brown with minimal head. Aroma of caramel, dried fruit and toffee. Taste is medium sweet. Caramel and toffee with a hint of red berries. Medium bodied with a oily yet somewhat sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a long, warming finish. Overall, pretty good. Id drink it again.

Bottle. Clear, deep copper/ruby/brown liquid with medium light brown head. Aroma of dark fruit, bread, pumpernickel, light chocolate, fruity lager yeast and light noble hops. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of bread, dark fruit and light chocolate. Medium to full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Balanced beer, really good.

7 Feb in my room at The Fishermans Wharf Sheraton in San Fransisco, picked from some all night store round the corner. This beer is wonderful, even out of a plastic beaker! Deep brown body with a creamy biege head. The nose is malty sweet: roasted/toasted caramel, red berries, toffee and trees. The taste is a lovely sweet malty molasses mix: too sweet for some maybe, but not for me, I loved it. The body is rich and full, the alcohol just about noticeable within the flavours. A true classic.

Small offwhite head. Clear dark deep red body. Earthy caramelly aroma with red berry and toffee notes. Dry-sweet earthy mineraly caramel taste with oily toffee notes. Full-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish earthy soy sauce and caramel aftertaste with dried fruit, red berries, and spice notes. Nice and drinkable, but perhaps a bit subdued. (0.5l bottle, Systembolaget, Charlottenberg.)

Sample at a tasting at Systembolaget, February 2013. Clear reddish/brown with a white head. Sweet aroma and taste of dried fruit, toffee, malt and some light spices. Nice full body and some warming alcohol. Not a bad one.
