Mack 1877 er produsert med ren pilsnermalt og klassisk, tsjekkisk Saazer humle. Ølet har en markert, men behagelig bitterhet og en forfriskende krydret humlearoma.

500 ml can. A clear, pale golden body with a white head. Aroma is slightly perfumed and have some flower. Mild malty flavor, malty sweetness, some bitterness and floral hops. Medium body and some more obvious bitterness in the aftertaste. All in all a pretty ordinary lager, decent but nothing to search for.

Bottle very kindly passed on by Rune & Finn, at Kernel Brewery November 2012. Cheers Rune & Finn. I decided to retire from rating back in October 2012, however will occasionally rate when people have been kind enough to pass on beer or if I just fancy it. Consumed Thursday 6th December 2012 Light gold with busy carbonation, white head and a clinically clean aroma, soft mouthfeel also. Plenty of grain and corn in mouth, bitterness is a little more pronounced than expected and to that end the sweetness is really quite subdued. Plenty of burps with the gassiness of this one, but they are not hoppy burps. Many thanks to Rune and Finn for this beer, two very generous chaps! A6 A4 T5 P2 Ov11 2.8

50cl can from Varnaveien mineralvann. Pours clear pale golden with a white head. Lightly malty aroma with some fruity and lightly hoppy notes. Hints vegetables and metal too. Quite sweet , almost a bit honey like with som floral hints and a light, but pleasant bitterness in the finish. Slightly better than the usual pale lagers, but still quite far from a decent Bohemian Pilsener.

500ml can from those lovely people Rune and Finn. Now I may be the only person in the country or indeed on this site who looks forward to a new Mack beer. My fondness for Mack beers is clearly Rune’s fault. No one should give me a funky little can of lager at Reading beer festival and not expect me to just go mad over it. I have been a fan of the beers ever since. This one is clear pale gold, looks very gassy with a thin white head. Aroma is fine. Some lemon some syrupy pale malt some hop even. It’s fine. It’s not too interesting, but there is certainly nothing wrong with it. A little light in the taste. Good refresher after a long day in the fjords. Is Tromso anywhere near any fjords? No idea. My knowledge of Norway is frightfully apalling. Anyway, thanks to Rune and Finn who are remarkably good company.

Can. A golden beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, and herbs, leading to a dry finish.
