Bottle from ’Jacks’ Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon December 2011 consumed at home 09.02.12 Its rare indeed that I have three beers from different breweries in bottles on the same evening and that I give a score of 4+ to each of them. However tonight is such a night with Magic Rock, Kernel being joined in a fabulous threesome by Windsor & Eton. Pours very, very dark brown with a light beige medium head. Coffee and hops combine in the mouth to great effect, its a different beast when compared to the Kernel and Magic Rock offerings but no less impressive. Perhaps a bit more coffee and hops showing straight away, in fact it reminds me of the coffee IPA’s that I’ve had. Nice softness in mouth with a real juicy burst and then the coffee and malts take over before a bitter pithy but softening finish. Spent coffee grains remain and hoppy burps are aplenty. Roasty and with some unsweetened liquorice this is a corker. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov17 4.1

Bottle, kindly shared by gunnar. ABV is 7.4%. Black colour, moderate beige head. Lovely hoppy aroma (Cascade and Pacific Jade), fruity and vinous notes, also mild roasty notes. Equally pleasant flavour, with the same elements as the aroma. Well balanced and very enjoyable.

330ml bottle from Waitrose Bracknell. Deep chocolate brown with a ruby hue and a thin tan head; the aroma is complex, with red fruit, chocolate and richly roasted nutty malts; the taste has rich choclately malts but is dominated by the hops, fresh, resinous, spicy and drying; leaving a long lasting, pleasantly bitter, dry finish. Excellent.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 5/12/2011. Almost black in colour with next to no head. Big tropical fruit aroma with some coffee. Flavour had much more fruit, some ashes and a dry finish. Good.
