Can in Bulgaria. Pours a clear, very light yellow-gold with a faint, film head. Lots of grainy malts on the nose. Flavor is fairly sweet with more grains and cereal, perhaps just a hint of straw bitters. Light bodied with average, fizzy carbonation. Malty finish, pretty crisp and clean, some slightly stronger floral hops coming through. Despite having a somewhat cheap malt character I enjoyed this one a good bit.

Frau Eva brought a 330ml can, as Stadelbräu Helles Lagerbier 4.8% abv, back from her holiday at Rethymnon, Crete. Pours a two-finger, white head, slowly fading over a clear, straw coloured body. Fragile lacing down the side of the glass. Modest aroma of juicy malts. Pale malts and sweet fruity hops in flavour. Distant bitterness to a short ending. Soft carbonated. Medium to thin bodied. Possible to drink (Tromsø, Midsummer Eve 2010).

You can find it in most places where you can find a Vergina (Northern Greece mostly). An average pilsner. But as always if it’s properly chilled accompanies your food perfectly under the greek sun in the summer.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pilsener golden with a decent, creamy, white head. Malty nose. Creamy smooth mouthfeel and some marked, dry bitter hops. Very obvious German inspiration in both flavour and naming. 230905
