The brewers at Squatters have created their first authentic German-style weisse bier to celebrate the coming of summer. German weisse bier is made with 40-50% wheat malt and just a sprinkling of hops. A step mash in the brewing process helped to facilitate the signature phenol (clove-like) notes that traditional weisse beers display. Ester notes of banana also make up the complex, but oh so very refreshing Sommer Weisse. What’s your vice?…

Appearance: Hazy yellow/golden with a nice fluffy white head and good lacing in the glass. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass
Aroma: Banana esters, lemon and yeast
Taste: Banana, clove, citrus and some slight bitterness in the finish (lemon peel?)
