Bottle 75 cl. Pours a cloudy golden with a lacing off-white head. Sweet oaky aroma atop a sweet fruitiness. Medium body, sweet fruit with a slightly tart edge, heavy barrel impact, quite some wood here. Ends dry. Nice one. 270812

Bottle. Pours reddish amber with white head. Nose/taste of oak, red wine, red fruits, red currants, candi sugar and sweet malt. Medium body. My favorite of the three variants.

750 mL bottle from Charleston Beer Exchange, shared at Slutfest 3, Richmond, VA, 4/21/12. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of grape tannins, spice, bread, caramel. The taste is bread, herbal notes, curry, grapes, wood and tannins. Medium-full bodied.

Lovely bottle from Westbrook. The tripel is dry and spicy, with a grassy middle and a peppery finish, but the red wine character turns the finish into something unique, as the acidity of the grapes mingles with the herbal vanilla of the oak and the Tripel’s inherent sweetness. Very good now; I’m curious what age will do the the beer.
