RoHa’s brewmaster couch-surfed his way from Michigan to Utah two decades ago in search of a brewing job. There must have been a little magic in the Big Green Couch he crashed on in Salt Lake City. The BGC is an IPA with enough malt character to stand up to the high alcohol, bitterness and hops. Strong but balanced, this IPA is a brewing ode to life’s serendipitous twists.

From a can Rather dark amber pour, thin off-white head. Deep woody resinous hop aroma and flavor. Decent bitterness. Some toasted malts and amber woody flavors. Plenty of lingering bitter hop presence. Nice bad.

Bomber thanks to Sledutah. Pours a dark amber color with a large white head. A big sweet malty floral nose. Sugary big malts, toffee, green bitter hops, soapy, floral. Some spicy peppery elements. Something sweet akin to banana esters. A sort of weird version of Celebration from Sierra Nevada. Not bad, certainly has good elements. But taken together, it is a bit harsh and flavors clash.
