Bottle: Hazy, amber coloured, smaller lasting foamy layer, herbal-fruity nose with a slight metallic touch; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, almost medium bodied; malty-fruity finish with a lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Not very aromatic, but quite a solid thirst-quencher…

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy and effervescent chestnut coloured hue with a thick and tanned foamy head. Toasty malty and yeasty, slightly doughy aroma with notes of caramel and nuts, accompanied by grassy and delicately fruity hops. Mildly sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a lightly over-carbonated mouthfeel. Initially moderately toasted malty taste with caramel, a shy nutty touch and present hoppy notes from the middle part; sweet-bitter and mildly toasty finish with caramel and shades of chocolate in the aftertaste. 01.II.13

Day Two of the Great Chris Meyer/Aaron Nielsen Franconian Beer Tasting in Schlitz. Prost! Cloudy orange/brown appearance with an off white head. Slight candy, caramel malty, bready yeasty, somewhat herbal aroma. A touch fruity, rich caramel/toasty malty, quite yeasty bready, flavorful kellerbier.

Bottle. A clear one, dark golden in color and with a small, dense, off-white to light beige head. Rather fruity on the nose, with piney, grassy hops. The flavor is quite pleasant, with a nice bitterness. Some pale malts in the back, and quite fruity. Quite dry and pleasantly carbonated, with a mostly bitter finish. A nice kellerbier indeed. 120622
