This English Special Bitter is our “Special Ale.” Special because it is one of only a handful of canned microbrews in the nation. Special because the Galena hops and pale ale malts create a crisp first sip, a hoppy tongue, and a malty sweet finish. Though “bitter” is part of the name, “better” would be a more accurate term.
Fresh and lively, this canned beer suits the needs of any outdoor enthusiast. Like it says on the can: Fish, Luau, Golf, Raft, Toboggan. Ska can!

can - This beer pours copper with a one finger white head. It has a mild aroma of caramel malt with a touch of hops. The sweet malt in the flavor is backed by some light hop bitterness though it could use a little more. It’s alright though.

Pour is a tea colored brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice with a mix of caramel malts and brown sugar. Flavor is a big let down almost to the point of being nothing. Some malts do show up after the swallow but this is really thin. Your could prob shotgun this right out of the can no problem.

12 oz. can and likin’ that! Nice light malt beer smell that nonetheless I can easily detect when opened. Pours golden and slightly hazy. In my small tumbler it kicks up a big spongy head. Malt with some sweetness and a slightly metallic hop signature. Somehow reminds me of regular beer back when Dad drank it. Wayyy too fizzy, in fact, bubbles bring in some harsh malt liquor type flavors. And way too fizzy for any style with English beer roots.

Pretty nice rendition of an ESB type ale. I found the balance between the hops and malt to be good and...it’s a nice beer with above average drinkability. And in the can, even.(Dale’s Pale rocks)
