Wildflower ale, spontaneous fermented using only the wild yeast from freshly foraged mānuka flowers, aged in oak barrels and then blended with a batch of fresh beer ‘hopped’ with mānuka tips. The result is a deliciously drinkable dark ale, with a delicately tart citrus, floral, honey flavour and a light, spicy mānuka twist. Go wild. Brewed for the Hokitika Wild Foods festival.

Bottle from Cornelius. Clear amber/brown body with a beige head. Lively carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of brambles and fig. Flavour of bitter lemon, cranberry and honey. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Very fizzy. An interesting sour beer.

375ml bottle from Benny’s Place, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a murky medium reddish brown colour with little life. The aroma is yeasty, tart spicy berries. The flavour is moderate sour, with a crisp, somewhat light, super dry, acidic, spicy, red berry palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

500ml bottle pours out cola brown amber color topped with fizzy sand head. Nose is nice floral barrel funk some berry cherry combo. Taste is more of the nice berry cherry combo floral notes and plenty funky tartness.
