Bottled. Deep coppery colour with a small brown head. Aroma is fruity, floral and some grassy notes. Also some sweet maltyness as well. Flavour is sweet malts, liquorice, mild rye as well as quite big salted liquorice in the finish.

Bottle at home 4th April. Aroma is intense pine orange grapefruit and a hint of chocolate orange. Great mouth feel, smooth. Taste is delicious, pine fresh hop, slightly numbing in the mouth. Another very good black IPA from Kernel

Bottle at the old brewery, London. Pours dark brown with a frothy, beige foam head. Light roast, subtle coffee and light grapefruit in the nose. Medium sweet flavor with some tangy dark malts, dark and toasty bread, roasted malts, some grapefruit and pineapple. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Faintly roasty finish with light resinous stickiness, mild cocoa, some pine, faint coffee, light dry grass, citrus fruits. Pretty superb. Very dynamic with different aspects coming through as I drink. Apparently this was Nate’s last brew; he left us with a wonderful farewell beer.

18th March 2012
Clear dark brown - red beer. Decent pale tan - cream head. Smooth dry palate, semi soft with fine carbonation. A little malt cream to start. Very mildly roasted dark malt with a whisper of coffee. Dry tangy citrus hops - orange and lemon. Pine. Some red berry fruits coming to the fore towards the dry finish. Bitter linger. A whisper of rye spice. Another very complex Black IPA form the Kernel. Great stuff!

2nd April 2012
Rounded off nicely now - lost some of the coffee grit but is nicely piney and pithy!

Bottle at the Kernel Brewery. It pours very dark brown, with a thin off-white head. The nose is pine, varnish, caramel, roasted malt and salted liquorice. The taste is salted caramel, rye, roasted malt, coffee, liquorice and pine, with a big dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A tasty black IPA.
