A complex blend of flavors. The rich caramel and toffee flavors of sheep shagger scotch ale symphonize with the oak, bourbon, and vanilla flavors bestowed by the barrel.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a hazy deep amber with an off-white head. Sweet Bourbon aroma, some licorice all-sorts. Rich, full body, low carbonation and a very soft mouthfeel, lovely toffeeish, soft vanilla and oak with a little warming alcohol in the finish. Slightly oxidized. My kinda beer. 230512

Bottle, maybe a year or so after release..not sure how/why I never rated this one when it came out. Burgundy brown color, thin oily head. Smooth malty aroma, a touch of bourbon vanilla-caramel. Completely malt forward and mellow. One of the better sessionable beers that really just let the bourbon flavors shine.

@Tampa Weekly Gathering-Thanks markwise-pours a dissipating tan head and amber color. Aroma is peat-medium malt, then herbal/sweetness. Taste is caramel/peat-medium malt, then herbal/sweetness.

Lightly hazy dark amber - minimal head - aroma of toffee, plum, peat, light smoke, toasted coconut and vanilla from the barrels - creamy mouthfeel, medium body - fairly dry, earthy and balanced for a bourbon barrel beer - quite a bit of peat - a bit of vanilla and plumy sweetness - some spicy oak - a light vegetal note, but otherwise balanced and actually understated for this brewery.

Bottle. Clear medium brown color. Aroma of burnt chocolate, butterscotch, vanilla. Taste is smooth chocolate covered caramel dipped in vanilla. Interesting.

Courtesy of markwise. Pours clear copper with thin tan head. The aroma is bold with toffee and coffee and earthiness as well as some caramel. Those notes come together to provide a wonderful aroma. The taste is yummy with toffee mixing with caramel, robust levels of dark roasted coffee goodness and dark to burnt malts. All the highly roasted malts and coffee help give it a bit of a dry finish.

Bottle. Slightly hazy, deep amber body with a tight-bubbled off-white head. Aroma of wood, vanilla, toffee, nuts with hints of roasted malts, bourbon and smoke. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery turning creamy texture and lively carbonation. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Taste of very sweet bourbon, molasses and caramel. The sweetness is borderline cloying but is held in check by the subtle bourbon and wood. Still, the excessive sweetness gets in the way of the barrel qualities. Strong aftertaste of toffee.
