clear dark brown, smooth light brown to beige head. Mild nutty malty aroma. Flavor is bisquity, sweet honey like syrupy, lots of malts and caramel.

Poured up on tap at Stone Bistro with muddy brown mahogany body and nice looking tan head. The aroma offers up brown sugar dredged caramel covered dates and prunes that are then minced and simmered on the stove as well as some spicy black licorice and molasses. The taste is similar with brown sugar, caramel malts, sweet malts, molasses and sweet dark fruity esters all mixed together with thin ribbons of earthy hops and faint anise spiciness. A bit more earthiness would pull this together a bit better and pull it a bit more toward the intended style, but that’s getting picky on my part too.

Draft. A nut brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, nuts, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and nuts, as well as lighter notes of alcohol, leading to a bitter finish where the caramel note lingers. The mouthfeel is a bit sticky.

On tap. Clear orangey brown with an off-white head. Sweetish aroma of roasted malt, dried and overripe fruit. Quite full-bodied, sweetish burned caramel and. Warming alcohol in the finish but no real bitterness. Delicious. 070709

On Tap at San Clemente. Wish I could try the barrel aged version...bet it is awesome! Pours with a small tan head over a deep brown body. Aroma of dark fruits, tobacco, chocolate, and raisins. Taste is, well, damn good! Chocolate covered raisins, chewy toffee everywhere, tobacco, leather and excellence in a glass! Creamy mouthfeel, light bubbles.

From tap at Stone Bistro. Pours dark brown with a small amber glare and a minimal white head. Aroma is roasted malt, light liqourice touch. Flavour too has the same notes in the malt profile alongside a subdued sweetness and good counterbalancing bitterness. Lasting roasted malt flavoured into the far finish.

Draft. Dark bronze beer with a tan head. Nice light smoke/roast aroma with caramel. Light smoke and caramel flavor with some fruitiness and light sweetness. Medium-plus bodied. Caramel and dark fruitiness lingers with a light sweetness. Sweetness and fruit gets more and more in the way.

Tap at Sacramento Brewing Company. Dark amber color with a good light tan head. Rich caramel malt aroma. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweetish dark very lightly smokey caramel with fruity/floral hop notes. Finishes with a touch of dirt that suddenly flows away leaving mild caramel toast and fruit sweetness. Truly mouth smacking.
