Very dark reddy-brown beer with a beige head. A roasted malt/coffee aroma. Sharp on the tongue, there’s chocolate in the flavour but dominant is the same malt and coffee mix as in the flavour. It’d got a mild finish which is a mix of the flavours with a lasting toasty, coffee taste on the tongue.

50cl bottle from Guid Cheese Shop, St Andrews. Pours like a coffee with a generous crema. The nose has toffee and some spice. Taste of coffee and dried fruit and cream. Then there’s a typical dry stout note of charcoal and dry liquorice. Palate starts gently and grows to a big structure. Overall, a lovely ale somewhere between a bitter and a stout. Very impressed with this!
