Pumpkin beers have been an American tradition since the pilgrims hit Plymouth Rock while Oktoberfest beers have been brewed in Germany since not long after Prince Ludwig got hitched in 1810. Now Terrapin is “carving” out our own special brew by combining these two great styles into a unique PUMPKINFEST beer...This Side Project has all the complex maltiness of a great Oktoberfest lager with the delicate spiciness of grandma’s fresh baked pumpkin pie.

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of bread, caramel, malt, and pumpkin. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, bread, and a bit of pumkin, leading to a dry spicy finish. The body is light.

On tap at the Nook. Pours a dark, hazy, orange color with minimal head. The aroma is dark malts, caramel, pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and bread. The flavor is toasted sweetness and nice spiciness. The palate is medium, creamy, and smooth. Overall, this beer is more subdued than most pumpkin beers, which is a step up in my book. It is heavier than most Oktoberfest beers as well. A unique and delicious beer.

More meh from the world of pumpkin beers. Dark copper, nice foamy head. Aroma is pumpkin and pumpkin pie spices. Not much to the base beer, a very dry amber style, a little bit nutty and toasty but mostly just a dry pumpkin flavor with a mild lingering spice.

My bottle says terrapin beer pumpkinfest, nothing about a side project so I guess this may be the right place; perhaps it started out as a side project years ago, who knows, what ever. First I thought OK!!! - I got the first bottle of the season but now I see its from 2010, got this at the diggity in okland, small hole in the wall place. Pour is copper colored. Smell is of pumpkin to an extent. Does not taste old, nice! Taste is rather laid back pumpkin with an alky lacing. punkin is not over the top and it lacks that stupid punkin pie spice, which I am glad of. Finish is OK, not bad, I’ve many worse pumkin beers, many artificial in nature. Overall Ok beer drinken experience. Pretty good for a year old punkin beerah.

Location: 12 oz bottle from jcos, 11/19/10 - Thanks, Justin!
Aroma: The nose is mostly pumpkin spice, some other spices, and a little brown sugar
Appearance: It pours a clear mahogany color with a small off-white head atop it
Flavor: The taste is pretty much dominated by the spicy malts, has a decent sweetness to it
Palate: The body is medium, with a decent drinkability, and a tingly feel on the mouth
Overall Impression: It looks like this one went from being one of their Side Projects to a part of the rotation, because the one I'm drinking isn't in the Side Project bottle. Anyway, this beer is solid. A bit on the one dimensional style, but I like that dimension, so I'm in on this one. Not the very best pumpkin beer out there, but some solid stuff.

Pretty amber orange with a thin, off-white head. Light biscuit malts, pie spice, pumpkin, nutmeg in aroma. Medium, smooth body. Not overly spiced. Some pumpkin, light caramel and biscuit malts, light pie spices, too. Not a over the top pumpkin beer. Good.
