Even you landlubbers can enjoy the great taste of the Yachtsmans ale! The addition of roasted malt produces a rich brown beer and mouthfeel, counterbalanced by sufficient hops to rise to the nose and refresh the throat of the most parched of sailors in a subtle complexity of flavours and texture.

Flaske (thanks, Cimbasso!) delt med Ovesen ombord på Fridtjofen: klar, mørk kobbergylden med flott skum som varer. Kjeks, malt, toffee, urter i aroma og smak. Vegetal bitterhet, ganske lang ettersmak. Slank og meget lettdrikkelig.

500ml bottle: BBD 7th Sep 17. Ist beer on a ’random tasting evening’ with myself on 17th Mar 17. Poured slowly into an Abbot Ale badged glass tankard at home. Looked lovely, mahogany body, bright, clean and clear, full inch high foaming blanket of white bubbles. Malty lead in both the nose and taste, good bitterness flavour wise, some toffee esters early on. Nice balance here, hop bitter, yet malty and nutty notes pushing a semi-sweetness. Slightly over carbonated, but not enough to make the beer ’fizzy’. Liked it. Obtained from Greenhams Off Licence in Ryde, IoW.

Bottle split with Sarah at home. Thanks to Sarah for picking this up from the island. Aroma is big dirty silage, fermenting grass, hop matter, veg, dirty hay, some unrefined sugars. Clear mid amber coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Flavour is composed of slight unrefined sugars, dirty grass, straw, sileage, dirty grassy. Assertive rough bitterness. Palate is dry and some minerality, moderate carbonation.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#42. First tried at the Burnley Beer Festival 2015. Copper coloured with a malty nose and a more balanced hop-malt taste first time around. Session golden, still well-balanced, maybe a bit more on the hoppy side of things second time around. Enjoyed on the banks of the River Medina.

Cask at the Waterfront Inn, IoW during the Isle of Wight Jolly. Pours clear, amber-gold with a white foam head. The nose has lightly sweaty grains with secondary leafy notes. Light sweet flavor with some decent citrusy hops, orange, grainy bread, light earth and leaves, some peppery aspect. Light bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Moderate sweetness to finish with more toasted grains and mild rindy orange. Decent bitter.
