Even you landlubbers can enjoy the great taste of the Yachtsmans ale! The addition of roasted malt produces a rich brown beer and mouthfeel, counterbalanced by sufficient hops to rise to the nose and refresh the throat of the most parched of sailors in a subtle complexity of flavours and texture.

Cask at the Waterfront Inn Shanklin, during the IOW Jolly Day, 24/08/14. Clear golden amber with a good sized light beige/off white covering - a decent looker! Nose is not so good, sulphuric wafts, light bread, straw, burnt tones. Taste comprises mellow fruits, light cherry, biscuit tones. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with light bitterings. Mediocre stuff.

Cask at the the Waterfront Inn, Shanklin during the IoW Jolly. It pours clear amber with a medium white head. The nose is a bit eggy, sulfurous, mushroom and toasty grain. The taste is lightly bitter, toasty, grainy, brown bread, light caramel and some of that eggy notes. Medium body and fine carbonation. Dodgy eggy bitter.

Bottle at Medehamstede Hotel, Shanklin whilst on short IOW break. Pours a clear, fairly attractive light brown colour with an off-white head. Appearance its high point, just a very slight hoppy and fruity aroma. Bitter finish. Thin. Disappointing overall.

50cl bottrle picked up on the island. A flat amber pour with just a trace of white head; honey aroma; rich and malty in the mouth, but with a farmyard taste with just a hint of citrus; then some gentle hops before a toasty, honeyed, finish.
