Cloudy dark cola-brown color with a medium thick ivory white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Small patches of lace. Aroma of smoked malt, maple and chocolate. Medium to full body with flavors of charred malt, sweet maple syrup and chocolate fudge. The finish is smokey with a malt and maple aftertaste. Above average overall.

Poured from a bottle. Aroma has lots of malt notes. Tons of dark caramel and toffee with a bit of a tootsie roll character. Light maple and burnt sugar notes. Faint oak and alcohol spice. Hints of tobacco, leather and medium light smoke. Pours dark brown with some burnt amber hues and a small, moderately thick, dark tan head that recedes to a thin film, thicker on the edges that seems to linger. Medium light lacing and legs. Flavor has a moderate sweetness with a lot of dark caramel and toffee. Lighter burnt sugar and maple syrup notes. Faint oak notes with hints of vanilla. Light tobacco and leather with medium light smoke and hints of ash. Medium bitterness and hints of alcohol spice. Some light oxidation is presenting itself. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Medium low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, not the most impressive beer from these breweries. The malt character turned out a bit too dark and astringent and masks some of the sweet maple syrup that should be more prevalent. Good, but not great and also past its prime. The smoked character also doesn’t seem to help the beer.

Bottle thanks to Stavros. Pours a dark brown with small frothy off white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong roast and smoke, wet biscuit. Thin mouthfeel with light maple and roast with nice smoke finish. Good but didnt hold up very well.

Very interesting beer. Tannic and fruity. almost smoked like a rauchbier would taste. quite hammy and finishes with a maple sweetness that’s pretty faded at this point. I think this beer is 2 years old now. ABV is well hidden!

Bottle courtesy of t0rin0, thanks! Shared at the GT2-biggirlpanties wedding. Maple dominates the aroma and flavor, with a pleasant vanilla and booziness in the background. Tasty stuff.
