Bottled. A dark red beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of spices, alcohol, malt, syrup, and caramel sauce. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel sauce, syryp, spices, alcohol, and malt, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of johnc. Pours a clear dark brown with a warm reddish hue and an offæwhite head. Dark fruits and thick smoke aroma. Solid body, sweet dark roast and dark fruits with a peaty edge. Warming alcohol finish. The smoke is somewhat offputting for me. 020212

Bottle. Pours a clear brown with a slight amber hue and a brown head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma has lots of smoke with hints of dark grains and maple syrup. Flavor begins with maple syrup but quickly becomes smoky with a lot of campfire. Not working for me.

Bottle shared at the 6th annual Richmond Industry Gathering, 11/27/11. Pours a hazy berry-red color with a thin creamy offwhite head. Decent head retention. Aroma of tart earthy notes, maple, citrus and nutty notes. The taste is maple, tart earthy notes and faint citrus. Medium-full bodied.

Pours a solid dark brown color with a decent creamy tan head that displays good retention and lace. Smells of smoke right from the pop of the cap. Sweet caramel malt, roasted grains with maybe a hint of maple underneath the campfire. Taste is sweet with caramel malt and a only a hint of maple, but this one is pretty strong with the smokey phenolic. A touch of chocolate, coffee, and alcohol show themselves in the sip especially as she warms. Medium to thick body, light carbonation with a smooth creamy mouthfeel. Decent brew, but really not all that interesting. I find it quite heavy on the smoke and that turns me off a bit. Maybe with some age this one will open up a bit.

Sampled from 750ml bottle. Poured a dark copper color with a light tan head. Aroma was very earthy, like wet dirt, notes of smoke. Flavor was a earthy malt one, with not really much maple to be found surprisingly. A very neat beer.

Butterscotch and charcoal aroma. Clear cola brown, thin yellow head. Bakers’ chocolate, butterscotch, and charcoal flavor. Finishes with maple syrup and charred oak. Neat beer, not necessarily up my alley, but it’s good.
