Imperial Chocolate Pumpkin Ale. Just before the Civil War, a pumpkin blight bleached the Commonwealth's crop white, turning the gourds into twisted, fermenting skulls in the fields. This chai-spiced ale is brewed in remembrance of "the year of the twisted gourd," pairing pumpkin puree with cacao to create a unique ale which won South Street a silver medal at the 2016 Great American Beer Festival!

10oz draft pour at Bilbo Baggins. Poured a copper color, with a very small white head. Aroma was mostly spices - lots of allspice in this one, some tea notes, and a touch of cinnamon. Flavor had some anise, cinnamon, nutmeg. A lot more pumpkin spice notes, but I thought it was very pleasant and would drink again.

Bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours brown, small frothy head. Aroma of chai and other spice and pumpkin. Taste is a pleasant mix of spice and pumpkin, chai coming out on top. Almost seems sweet but itβs not quite that.
