Heavy texture, hence a good winter ale, but average in its fruity flavours.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond, Reading] Dirty amber-bronze with a small off-white head. Slight fizz, yet a rather oily mouthfeel. Caramel, apple and melted plastic at first. Sweet and sickly, leading into a licquorice and cardomom finish. I generally dislike licquorice flavours, which biased me against this beer, but even taking that into account there didn’t seem much else to redeem it anyway. This is pretty nasty stuff.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm, 19 Dec) Dark amber colour with frothy off-white head. Fruity nose with caramel, dried fruit, orange, grapefruit and floral hops. Fruity taste with notes of orange, grapefruit, caramel and a nice punch of hops in the finish. Slightly sweetish. Fairly nice, definitely saved by the nice hop character in the finish.
