Anniversary XX is a continuation of our innovative approach to brewing over the past twenty years – an approach that has included leading the way in the development of Belgian style beers, a barrel-aging program, the re-introduction of long-neglected imperial stout styles, and the new packaging ideas. We think it’s a fitting crown for our first two decades of operation.
XX is a unique beer, pale and lightly hopped, brewed with agave nectar and fermented with a special yeast strain. Some of the lots were aged in oak barrels and then blended to perfection so the final is a complex, subtle new direction in brewing art.

Draft at Hopleaf. Slightly hazy, big creamy white/off-white head. Relatively mellow, creamy Pils aroma. Woah. The alcohol hits right away. Big honey sugar agave tones. Quite different. Sort of like those agave beers of years past, but with a quality mouthfeel, champagne effervescence. Sweet and brutal, this goblet could be split into 4 and you’d still get enough. Boozy honey liqueur notes. The booze really dominates, but it is quite unique with the one-dimensional Pils malt. Sort of too big for it’s own good.

Rated April 2012. Corked and caged 50cl bottle pours clear copper to gold with a nice white looking head of foam. The rather bold aroma offers up prunes, apricots and some funky passion fruit followed by white wine and a touch of cream soda like vanilla notes. The taste is similar with tart to nearly funky white wine notes as well as some prunes and molasses and not too much of anything else really. The big ABV isn’t too obtrusive. It ends on the dry side.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Ariel. As North Coast Grand Cru. Clear golden-copper. Aroma of fruits and a bit of funky notes. Sweet flavor with honey, fruits, wood, light acidic notes and a drier finish. Full-bodied. Good and unique.

Bottled. A dark golden beer with a lazing yellowish head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, fruits, malt, and a bit of caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of agave, malt, alcohol, and caramel, leading to a very dry finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of joergen. Comes as: "North Coast Grand Cru". Pours a clear golden with a small white head. Lovely oaky aroma combined with sweet fruit. Solid body, pours thick and syrupy with sweet oak and vanilla - not sure if I pick up the agave nectar though. Some alcohol heat. Lovely complexity. 290212

Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a bright apricot color with a large fluffy yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy tequila, pineapple, kiwi and oak and was moderately boozy in a way that really worked. The flavor was very sweet and tangy pineapple, kiwi, tequila, oak, and bread. The finish was long sweet and tangy pineapple and tequila. Boozy again but in a way that surprisingly worked well. Fairly full bodied. Very nice.

Bottled:
Pours a clear, deep golden colour with a thick head. Aroma is rhubarbs, oak and Bourbon. Thick and sweet mouthfeel. Flavour is more perfumy Bourbon followed by a long, somewhat boozy bitterness.
