Bottle at Hanne p hyden, Bergen. Deep golden redbrown with a off-white head which fades fast. Aromas of red berries, port, syrup and brown sugar. The flavour is also dominated by berries and wild berries, but also some wood. Medium bitterness. Watery to slick mouthfeel. An almost too sweet beer, but not directly a bad one.

Pours deep brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel dried fruits and burned sugar. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø, Langnes. Drukket hjemme 22 Nov 11. Ekstremt dypbrun med litt rødskjær. Lavt lysebrunt skum som flater nesten helt ut. Søt karamell-aroma. Veldig mye karamell i smaken. Ikke noe annet.

0.5l bottle. Pours a deep deep brown body with a small sidesticking light beige head. Aroma is really low, but tones of dark malts and thin caramel. Not horrible, but kinda low and way to anonymous. Average carbonated with a slick and oily mouthfeel. Sour flavors! Did not expect that. Also some roasted sweet caramel and dark malts. The sourness surprised me, but I guess you still can call it a drinkable Christmas brew from Grans.

Medium brown coarseish head. Barely translucent deep dark red body with carbonation. Vanilla fudge aroma with soy sauce and spicy caramel notes. Dry-sweetish roasty caramelly taste with acidic rotten background notes. Light body. Fizzy mouthfeel. Dryish metallic vegetable aftertaste with spicy notes. Yeurgh. There’s no way I’m finishing this bottle.

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger, as Lade Gaards Juleøl Sterk Type. ABV is 6.5%. (No, this won’t be part of the pub’s regular selection, thank God - it’s just in for the Grand Christmas Beer Tasting.) Very dark brown colour, large beige head. Sourish metallic aroma, some malts and caramel. Thin body. Sourish metallic flavour too, like sucking 5 " galvanized nails. The most miserable strong ("Vinmonopolet strength") Christmas /Yule beer you can get in Norway.
