330ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Chocolately, slightly roasty, dark malty aroma, hints of liquorice, some cocoa, strange metallic overtones. Taste is sweet dark malty, fruity hoppy overtones, notes of chocolate, cococa, red berries, lingonberry. Liquid "Herrentorte".

Bottle from Beergium. Brown porter from a Swedish micro brewery I never had any beer from before. Creamy, bit irregular, pale greyish beige, bubbly and moussy head, reduced to a thin veil in the middle but a firm rim on the edges, over a very dark reddish-chestnut brown, hazy beer, blackish in general appearance. Aroma of ’fondant’ chocolate, hazelnut oil, cocoa, cold black coffee, butterscotch, mocha ice cream, dried plum, Cuban cigars, roasted coffee beans, soaking wet leather, candied fig, raisins, dry beef stock cubes, baked banana, burnt sugar, toasted brown bread, teriyaki, raw salsify, smoked bacon somewhere, old dry peat even, chicory root, moist hay, red apple peel, dried blueberries, ginger, toffee, roasted chestnut, ’natural’ iron. Clean, crisp onset, some restrained fig and dried banana sweetness but equally strong blueberry sourishness underneath as well as a thick, almost soy sauce- and dry beef stock-like umami aspect more or less dominating both the sweetness and the sourness, soft carbo, slick and oily, greasy mouthfeel gliding effortlessly over the tongue’s surface - leaving behind a trail of pleasantly nutty maltiness with sweetish caramelly impressions as well as an eventually quite strongly toasted bitterish flavor, alongside an almost corn-like slickness; coffeeish roasted in the very end, with dried fruit effects lingering amidst ongoing malt bittersweetness (yet more bitterness than sweetness), herbal and leafy hop bitterness (though not too sharply so) and a slight iron-like effect, yet nothing overly metallic; smoky accents retronasally too, without shifting to overt smoked meat- or dito fish-like flavors. Enjoyable, balanced and robust, this is a porter with more body and flavor to it than one would expect seen the session level ABV; pure flavor-wise, there are certain stout-like characteristics, but clearly porter and stout have been interwoven since their very beginnings and many a good porter these days could equally qualify as a decent stout - so I obviously cannot be bothered by that. If this is to be regarded as a porter, it is in any case a pungent one, adorned with nice smoky aspects. Inviting to get acquainted with the rest of this brewery’s portfolio.

Keg at the Bottle Shop - Bermondsey. Pours deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Nose of coffee, well toasted brown bread, dry cocoa. Medium sweet flavour with brownies, burnt earth, more brown bread, bittersweet chocolate. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Great balance in the finish, good depth, more coffee, coffee ice cream, cocoa. Great beer.

Black color with a huge frothy tan head. Good lacing. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium body and an average carbonation level. Maybe a bit to high. Semi dry texture. Roast, coffee and chocolate in the flavor. Maybe a bit to much roast.

At a tasting, thanks rlgh, big almost gushing bubbly head, cloudy dark brown color, aroma of cocoa, chocolate, charred wood and a hint of mud, dark bread and coffee flavor with charred, muddy and chocolate hints, and a fruity sourness, light to medium bitterness, body a bit too light. Nice and pleasant.

(330ml bottle from Systembolaget web order) Pours black with a massive, slowly fading head of dense tan foam and no lace. Aroma of roasted malt, unsweetened light roast coffee, light cocoa, liquorice, caramel, slight tart fruitiness. Flavour is rather dry, toasted malts, chalky, a bit of sweet chocolate and caramel core, rather light coffee and toasted grain bitterness with a hint of a sour/tart feel to the back end as well. Fairly light in body with way too high a carbonation level, had to swirl a lot out to be drinkable rather than mineral water, after which it improved.. Quite decent basic porter, but not anything more.
