Cask at The Great British Beer Festival 2013. Poured a dark ruby colour with good clarity and a medium tan head. Not particularly appealing aroma of stewed apple and some toffee. Fruity flavour with slight acidity and a hint of copper. Fuller, more bitter palate of coffee and roasted malt.

Cask at GBBF 2013. It pours deep brown with a bubbly beige head. The nose is earthy, soft roast, cocoa, treacle, chocolate and touch of dark fruit. The taste is soft roast, toast, coffee, light ash, dark fruit and good bitter bite with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Good balance and high drinkability. Tasty.

From cask, handpump at The National Winter Ales Festival. Shared with Finn. Dark body with deep ruby highlights. Fragile bubbles at the top. Malt and vanilla nose. Grainy chocolate to the taste character alongside hints of coffee and liquorice. Dry bitter ending. Tasty and easy drinking porter (Manchester, 23.01.2013).

Bottle and cask. Dark brown body with ruby highlights and a beige head that holds well. Great lacing. Aroma of chocolate ice-cream, burnt toast, ash and raisins. Flavour of berries, chocolate, mild coffee and vanilla with a tangy finish. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. This is a wonderful Porter - rich and tangy.
