Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed after the last work day of 2011. Appearance is a dark ruby red with a thin white head that rims around the glass. Aroma of vanilla and oak, a touch of English hops, slight malt, smells nice. Taste goes down nice and smooth, can definitely tell it’s oak aged with the vanilla notes and a touch of bourbon. I’m not really getting any spice which is typically attributed to winter brews. It’s still not bad, good stuff.

Bottled. Amber colour, mediumsized off-white foamy head. Aroma is toffee, caramel, some sweet wooden notes as well as mild vanilla. Flavour is vanilla, toffee, wood, some mild spices as well.
