Bottle part of the innis and gunn gift pack at the lcbo.
Great looking beer, nice dark mahogany hue, with an ample head. Oaky aroma with some dark fruit, touches of vanilla, and the tradition innis butter signature. Light bitterness, low carb, medium mouthfeel. The finish has a tiny bit of pithy citrus hops, lots of dark fruit, but the typical innis buttery, oakiness is there.

Clear amber - red beer with a decent off white head. Light dry palate. Minerals. Vanilla cream. Tangy fruit flavours flash by before a somewhat listless dry minerally finish. I&G are a guilty pleasure of mine but this one just passes muster.

[330ml bottle from Beers of Europe] Deep amber with a moderate cream head & moderate fizz. Up front are the trademark rich Innis & Gunn flavours that I love of oak, vanilla and (in this particular one) cream soda. However, the carbonation is stronger than usual, and the hops used here give a lemon flavour, neither of which go with the style of beer. In addition there was an unfortunate slight sourness in the finish. I still liked the barrel-aged flavours, but this was not one of the better I&G specials.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel, butterscotch, malt, and dusty hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of butterscotch, malt, caramel, and dusty hops, leading to a dry finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a clear amber with an off-white head. Very sweet whisky aroma. Medium body, sweet caramel and again a neat but rather sweet whisky notes - but at least not butterscotch as the worst Innis&Gunns. 120412

Bottle: Poured a clear burgundy color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of oak and vanilla are quite powerful with light sweet malt notes also noticeable. Taste is a mix between some vanilla notes with some notes of oak and a sweet malt backbone with some light caramel notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not something I would necessarily search for on a regular basis but a lot more pleasant then some of their first barrle-aged offerings.

Bottle from Half Time. Pours dark copper with a creamy near beige head. Aroma is sort of floral rum. Probably not a rum barrel, but it smells like it to me. Med body. Almost. The flavor is lightly spicy, definitely roasted malt, and something like a touch of wintergreen. And still, I think floral. Finishes not exactly dry, but not very sweet either. After a while I can get the oak. A fairly flavorful and somewhat astringent finish. I like it.
