Bottle from Biere des Halles, Lille. New region tick for me. Hazy pale yellow-gold with a middling fizz and a white head. Tart and funky from the off with floral notes and lemon. Some dry wood emerges, and the funkiness remains through to the aftertaste. Thought it a little harsh on the first sip, but the more I drank the more I liked it. Decent stuff.

Fancy but pricey 'Spoons in the heart of the city (when I say pricey obviously I mean compared to other 'Spoons; it's still very cheap compared to everything else nearby). The large, grand interior (a glass cupola, marble columns and balustrades, and other architectural features that I can't remember the names for) are immediately impressive, whilst the high, ornamental roof seems to absorb sound making it quieter in here than the open-plan layout would suggest. However, that same grand scale makes the atmosphere a little muted. Service was of the usual 'Spoonsnature - fast, friendly but clearly overworked - almost certainly a huge improvement on when it used to be an HSBC. The food was bang on expectations for a 'Spoons. Beer wise there were 10 cask handpulls - 5 of their boring permanents, and 5 from their seasonal list - plus the usual selection of craft and macro cans, bottles and taps (as with all 'Spoons you can see current beer & cider availability on their app). Not a bad 'Spoons overall, and I'd probably return to it if I was in that area again (because I can't afford any other venues nearby!). On a side quest note, make sure you leave a bit of time to wander through the stunning Leadenhall Market just up the road.

gave a cheers!

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Mahogany-brown with a thin beige head. Toffee, brazil nuts and chocolate with a woody note. Raisins and blackberries come through. Sweetish but with a drying finish. Decent stuff, I enjoyed this.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Dull orangey-amber with a thin off-white head and a light carbonation. Decent condition as usual for this 'Spoons. Malty with toasted brown bread and a little caramel. Some light marmalade and blackberry notes. Dry finish. More like a bitter than a brown ale, but grew on me after a meh start.

Keg at the Sweet Pea Kitchen, Bradford on Avon. New brewery for me. Pale gold with a thin white head and a pleasant frothy fizz. Sweetish with lemon. Frankly tastes like a decent quality shandy. I quite like it though; this'd be a very pleasant refresher on a hot day.
