LodeStar Festival Ale is a 3.8% golden refreshing ale. Therefore the perfect partner to a summer festival!

It is made from four malts to give full body and with four additions of English hops it has a lovely aroma and gentle hop bitterness.

Keg tap at the St Radegund, Cambridge. Light yellow with a little white head. Pee, metal and grass aroma... Not as bad as I’ve made it sound but not great. Taste is actually sweet and refreshing, an improvement on the smell. Heavily carbonated refreshing palate. Ok, not a great beer but I’ve had worse lagers and it is certainly drinkable. And it seems to get better as it goes on, which is always a good sign.

Bottle from Waitrose, Stevenage. Yellow-blonde with a thin head. Floral, but not so pleasant nose with a better lager-malt taste with an ale texture.

Bottle at The Cambridge Chop House, Cambridge (Lozs works Christmas Do) Monday 16th December 2013 Sweet lager its ok for the style if a little bit corny and even a bit buttery at edges, actually too sweet and not that refreshing I am drinking more sparkling water than I am this! As ’Premium Suffolk Lager’. Pale gold beer, light suddy head. Light malty nose. Light crisp palate. Light malt - almost creamy. A little tiny bit of hop bitterness. Finishes crisp and zingy but with a metallic taste that skews what is an otherwise decent lager.

330ml bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring as Calvors Premium Lager at an ABV of 5.0%. Pale straw with a ring of white head and light carbonation; the aroma is of Saaz hops, leafy and slightly spicy; crisp and dry with a fruity apple flavour; and a clean finish. Like the 3.8 this is so much better than the average macro lager.
