Voraciously hoppy and not overly bitter. The Kind brings enormous aroma and maximum flavor. It’s like taking a walk through a pine forest and ending up at a citrus farm. This beer brings joy to the world, one sip at a time.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks zvikar. Clear yellow. Hoppy aroma of overripe tropical fruits. Dry-ish flavor with fruity hops and nice strong bitterness. Medium-bodied.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a huge white head. Aroma is nice and hoppy with some sweet honey malt. Flavor is again decently hopped with a little sweetness toward the end. Adequate IPA.

Bottle. Translucent straw body, medium clumping off-white head. Nose of citrus rind and pine. Densely hoppy body, lots of citrus and pine, backed by nice toasty malts and fruity sweet breadiness. Bitter rindy finish. A solidly crafted, well-balanced IPA.

Pours a burnt orange, minimal head. Smells like damn orange juice and pine cones. Taste is nice bitter / malt balance but tastes a bit too boozy for a 6.8% beer. Lots of orange peel, a bit of pulp and a finish of pine resin. It’s actually really nice and a bomber isn’t too much.

Lemon zest nose. Clear golden, thin head. Lemon zest flavor, which turns to celery and grass. Decent, but seems a little vegetal and could use a greater malt presence.

Draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear amber color with a thin frothy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of floral, herbal, resin hops and caramel malts. The taste is strong herbal hops, toasted malts and caramel. Medium bodied.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly cloudy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of orange zest, tangerine, grapefruit, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, bread, and light herbal. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of hop notes. Taste of orange zest, grapefruit, pine, floral, citrus rind, grass, bread, and herbal earthiness. Good amount of grassy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus rind, pine, floral, grass, bread, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of hop flavors with decent complexity; good malt/hop balance; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good IPA. Nice balance of hop flavors with good complexity; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 12/23/12, My Rating #75 of 12/12, I wouldn't have gotten here without the Mayans being wrong, but then again, what did those guys know, they certainly didn't correctly predict the end of the Mayans...

Aroma: The nose is sweet and fruity, orange and grapefruit mostly, with some floral notes too
Appearance: Pours a slightly hazed orange color with a rocky white head and some light lace spots
Flavor: The taste is lightly sweet up-front, mostly citrusy, with a mid-bitter citrus and floral hop finish
Palate: Medium bodied, it has a creamy, lightly sticky feel, a soft carbonation, and a mid-dry finish
Overall Impression: Drinking this one as the Redskins almost give me a heart attack with a tight win over the Eagles, but a win is a win, so I'll take it. From a distribution perspective, this is first time I've seen Three Heads at Buy Rite (or anywhere in NJ). As for the beer itself, this is one is a quite solid, citrus-forward IPA. Maybe one could make the argument that it leans a touch too sweet for the style, but I really found that it worked well.

Orange with a medium white head. Aroma is citrus, lightly sweet, some pine. Medium body. Flavor is nice bright fruits, light pine, enough sweet malts to add some complexity but not drown the hop bitterness. really refreshing IPA and one I’d like to see in front of me more often.
